Woodbank Backs The Carl Thomas Project
Proud Sponsors of The Carl Thomas Project
Carl Thomas is a 33-year-old kickboxing coach based in Manchester who after retiring from competition, decided to dedicate the next 10 years of his life to becoming an ‘extreme fundraising athlete’. He aims to raise £1,000,000 between 2016 and 2026 for various charities.
Past challenges have included running 10 marathons in 10 days from London to Stockport for Macmillan Cancer Support, to cycling 1500 miles in 10 days with a 300mile cycle from Scotland to Manchester for the Teenage Cancer Trust. By completing these extreme challenges, Carl pushes himself to the limit to raise money for these amazing charities and has so far raised over £42,000.
His most recent challenge is perhaps his most extreme. In September 2020, Carl will attempt to set a world record by running a marathon distance of 26.2 miles pulling a plane. This is all to raise money for Ollie’s Army.
Ollie’s Army was started in 2015 by Lucy and Mike Carroll from Stockport, following their son Ollie’s diagnosis with the extremely rare and fatal Battens Disease. The family also received the news the same year that their daughter Amelia, aged 2, also has Battens Disease.
Carl’s drive and determination to complete these extreme challenges for such amazing causes is extremely admirable and Woodbank are honoured to back him for his next challenge.
